Romain Barras became the European Champion in Barcelona (1)

Romain Barras (FRA) won the decathlon at the European Championships in Barcelona. He was leading by Eelco Sintnicolaas (NED) only five points going into the last event.

Barras managed his first major title with a score of 8453 points. Sintnicolaas took the silver medal with 8436 points and Andrei Krauchanka (BLR) took bronze with 8370 points.
