Sebrle wins third straight Euro indoor heptathlon title (0)

Czech Roman Sebrle snatched his third successive European indoor title in heptathlon, recording the best points total in the world this year (6196 points).

The Olympic decathlon champion was second going into the final discipline, 32 points behind Russian Aleksandr Pogorelov, but ran a tactical 1000 metres race to ensure he finished more than the required three seconds ahead of his rival.

Pogorelov was second with 6127 points and Andrei Krauchanka of Belarus third with 6090 points.
