At the 2010 Barrientos Memorial - a prestigious annual track and field meet held in Cuba - Yordani García delivered an outstanding performance in the decathlon, scoring 8381 points.

Yordani Garcia became the first man to score over 8000 points in the Decathlon this year as he tallied 8381 (10,5 - 7.22 - 15.78 - 2.04 - 49,1 - 14,2 - 46.79 - 4.90 - 64.68 - 4.43,5) at the International Barrientos Memorial in Havana, Cuba.

World and Olympic medallist Leonel Suarez was resting from his world indoor championships debut. First day leader Junior Diaz dropped out after completing the Discus. He had failed to finish the 110m Hurdles.

The Barrientos Memorial itself is known for attracting strong regional talent and serves as a key competition for Cuban athletes to prepare for global meets - so winning there is a significant achievement.
