The men's decathlon at the 2002 European Championships in Munich brought together many of the world's leading combined events athletes, including reigning world record holder Roman Šebrle, Olympic champion Erki Nool and Russia's Lev Lobodin. The competition produced a high-quality podium, with Šebrle capturing the European title with 8800 points, ahead of Nool (8438) and Lobodin (8390).
