Historical note: Remarkably, Uibo led the decathlon after nine events with 7869 points, just 15 ahead of Warner and 19 ahead of Kaul. The medals were decided in the final 1500 m, where Kaul's superior endurance overturned the standings. Uibo's silver medal was Estonia's second in World Championships decathlon history, following Erki Nool's silver in Edmonton in 2001.
