with just about 2 weeks to go until the Indoor WC - is there already a list available which athletes are to be invited to participate? I know there are certain rules (current world champion, outdoor top list 2009 etc.), but I don't know the exact ones and who is going to be your favorite for the Heptathlon World Title? |

I am not sure where to find the list I know two years ago it was not out until maybe a week before. I think it will be very interesting in the heptathlon, Trey hardee has ran some very fats times in the hurdles but not sure what everything else will be like I do not know where bryan clay stands if he will even be there or not. Drozdov looks like the favorite and Krauchanka will be there to push the whole way. I do remember last year Mik Pahapill had a big heptathlon if he is in good shape he could possibly challenge |

Has Hardee made any combined events this year? I know he has the exclusive invitation as a world champion, however just wondering about his current potential shape. As with Drozdov, I have no doubts he'll be one of the toughest pretenders to win the gold medal. Mikk Pahapill collected 6156 points two weeks ago, I hope he'll be invited to Doha as well. Should anyone have information about the competitors confirmed, this would be the most welcome information |

"For the Combined Events, eight (8) athletes will be invited by the IAAF in the Heptathlon and in the Pentathlon as follows: the three best athletes from the 2009 Outdoor Lists (as at 31st December 2009) limited to a maximum of one per country and the three best athletes form the 2010 Indoor Lists during (as at 22nd February 2010) two athletes which may be invited at the discretion of the IAAF" just found that on the IAAF homepage. so that would be Hardee, Suárez and Pogorelov from the 2009 Outdoor List (if they all compete indoors, no score by Hardee so far for the heptathlon this year, but he did a couple of 3-eventers in Sweden I think) Plus Drozdov, Eaton, Kasyanov from the 2010 Indoor List, all with pretty good scores > 6.200 already Plus two additional entries of course - I'm hoping for Krauchanka who seems to be in good shape and Pahapill as the reigning European Champion. Maybe also Clay So still waiting for the official lists to be published If you look at the results from this season I think it could be quite a close competition. Drozdov always seems to be pretty strong indoors. |

I do not think that Eaton will be at world indoor he will be comepeting at NCAA in march. As far as I know both Hardee and Clay are competing. Both of them are entered in the USA championships which start this weekend. Clay: 60, 60 hurldes and Long Jump Trey: 60 hurdles and Long Jump |

Based on the sports news as of yesterday, the final list to Doha ICC is: 1. Bryan Clay (USA) 2. Trey Hardee (USA) 3. Leonel Suarez (CUB) 4. Aleksandr Pogorelov (RUS) 5. Aleksei Drozdov (RUS) 6. Oleksi Kasyanov (UKR) 7. Andrei Kravhcenko (BLR) 8. Roman Sebrle (CZE) As of today, Mikk Pahapill (6156p, holding 6th place this season, just before Kravchenko) will not compete, despite being Europen Indoor champion in Torino 2009. |

I suppose the fight for the medals will between Clay, Drozdov, Kasyanov and Krauchanka. I don't know about Hardee's indoor results, but he should also have a chance, as well as Pogorelov. Suárez I think won't be able to get close to his outdoor results, as there is no javelin And Sebrle is maybe getting too old by now to compete with the younger athletes.. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the competition! |

I think the American pair will be highly favored. Clay's best score in the heptathlon is 6371 points, set while winning the 2008 world indoor championships in Valencia. Hardee's best is 6208, set at Albuquerque in 2006. |

both clay and hardee competed this weekend in open events in the US championships and both competed very well in the hurdles Clay ran a pr 7.71 and trey ran a 7.78 clay ran an ok 6.70 in the 60 and both of them only achieved 7.35 in the long jump. however they really just started technical work just recently so maybe they will be sharpened up by the doha i look for a score around 6300 to 6350 to win! so it could be a close competition for the top spot |

Here is my humble prediction for the indoor world champs heptathlon: 1. Drozdov - 7.00, 7.60, 16.60, 2.11 - 8.25, 5.10, 2.45.00 = 6316 2. Kasyanov - 6.83, 7.85, 15.00, 2.02 - 8.10, 4.80, 2.40.00 = 6257 3. Krauchanka - 7.07, 7.60, 13.50, 2.11, 7.93, 5.20, 2.42.00 = 6244 4. Clay - 6.72, 7.49, 15.41, 2.05 - 7.84, 4.90, 2.56.00 = 6187 5. Hardee - 6.77, 7.62, 14.33, 1.99 - 7.81, 5.00, 2.54.00 = 6138 6. Suarez - 7.10, 7.31, 14.00, 2.08 - 7.97, 4.90, 2.36.00 = 6128 7. Pogorelov - 7.14, 7.40, 16.00, 2.08 - 8.10, 5.00, 2.52.00 = 6084 8. Sebrle - 7.18, 7.45, 15.75, 2.05 - 8.14, 5.00 , 2.51.00 = 6039 My gut feeling tells me that Clay and Hardee aren´t well enough prepared in the field events to win. They need to come out with a great long jump result if either of them are to fight for gold. With my predicted situation above, they won't be sitting strong enough before the 1000m to push their times in that event. The same goes for Sebrle. I believe Drozdov's strong showing in Penza earlier this year shows that his form is superb. He is also experienced and at just the right place in his carreer for a major win. He might even go higher than my prediction... Kasyanov and Krauchanka will chase each other for the silver medal in the 1000m. Please challenge my prediction |

I think Hardee win the golden one with 6250-6300 points. 2nd and 3rd place maybe to Drozdov and Kasyanov. |

just saw the first results: looks quite good for Kasyanov so far. both us guys with short jumps in the long jump. I suppose that will now decrease their chances of going for the top spot. |

First 4 events: http://www.iaaf.org/wic10/results/eventcode=4144/r... Should Clay run good 1000m, he'll win the title. Drozdov has some magic power in shot put, wow. He always throws 2m more than the rest without a blink of an eye. Really stunning. I wonder about if Kasyanov has made a progress in pole vault. Being a leader often after sprint events and long jump, he needs to focus on pole vault as well (shot put has become better). Sorry to see Pogorelov canceling the competition. 7.68 at 60m was most probably something he was looking for. Good high jump for Krauchanka (as expected). |

Ashton Eaton will probably make a better score in the NCAA heptathlon (US collegiate championship) this weekend than the winner in Doha. His score is 3561 after day one. What a talent! |
