Dennis Leyckes (GER), Mykola Shulga (UKR), Tatu Pussila (FIN).

Historical note: A broken shin helped steer Ladji Doucoure towards athletics. After a bad tackle during a football match, his father urged him to concentrate on the track. By 20 July 2001, he was European junior decathlon champion; four years later, he won world titles in both the 110 metres hurdles and 4 × 100 metres relay in Helsinki.
