Not even sure that the big three are going to get the "A" standard. Clay didn't finish decathlon in the last two year and Hardee is recovering from an operation. As for other deathliest: Arnold - the only one with a PB higher than 8,200 but he also is not 100% healthy (SB of 7840) Beach - very talented but his throws are so bad that even Eaton looks good compare to him Murphy - see Beach Morrison - injured So I would be surprised if more than three deathliest will get the "A" mark IP: 124.190.... |

your crazy if you think clay and trey cant score A standard barring a no height or injury they have only been training for these 2 days since they started back training in 2008 after olympics Clay was actually very smart to not do decathlons cause of his age he knew to have a good shot in 2012 he would have to save his body instead of doing 6 decathlons between now and then IP: 173.216.... Is Eaton on his way to a new WR? I do have my doubts that he'll do it yet 1) Weather does not seem to be perfect and that usually costs you a lot of power during the (longer) 2nd day. 2) The trials are just too important; if it is close before the javelin, will he go at his limit inhering the danger to overpower and maybe missing the olympic games? If nothing unexpected happens Dan O'Brians USA record 8891 pts however might be history by the end of the day... Last year (trials for Daegu) Eaton scored: 13,52 / 41,58 / 5,05 / 56,19 / 4:24,30 If he can put up such a day again with a better discusthrow (requires 43,44 for 8891pts) the record would be his. Correction too: it's 4728! I think he "cannot" miss the OG anymore, because he has his A and there will be no 4th A standard (no Dan O'Brien case). But you are right, I'm always rather pessimistic too (I didn't really believe in WR after Sebrle's 1st day in Götzis 2001). What we hear about the weather is a lot worse than "not perfect", so we don't know what will happen in the throws an PV (I saw six NH in PV in Götzis 2010(?) ). He'd need good throws. with 13,50/45.00/5.15/60.00 he'd need a 4:22 in 1500m Of course he has a good chance to take the American Record from Dan O'Brien. IP: 84.153.... A little bit more realistic in bad weather: 13,60/42.50/4.95/57.50 + 4:25 would add 8844 IP: 84.153.... Posts from the same IP: Christoph |
