Hi everybody!

I'd like to provide some links to more sites than the official meeting homepage (for those of you, who are familiar with reading German)

Vorarlberg Online (Information about the Austrian Bundesland Vorarlberg, where Götzis is):

http://www.vol.at

Subsite for the meeting (today only information about last year's meeting, but during the meeting should be updated):

http://www.vol.at/specials/moesle

Vorlarlberger Nachrichten (newspaper - unfortunately you need to register, but you can get two editions free. I'd recommend Saturday and Monday/Tuesday)

Neue (newspaper)

http://activepaper.tele.net/neue

Antenne Vorarlberg (local radio station, possibly with information about the meeting:

http://antenne.vol.at

Vorarlberg heute on demand (daily local information about Vorarlberg - you can see the editions for the past 7 days --> pictures from the meeting on television!)

http://your.orf.at/vbgwebcam/vheute/ondemand.php

I there will start some discussion about the meeting in this forum (predictions and so on). Maybe there will be a poll on Decathlon2000 (e.g. how many 8000ers? who will win? winners points?

Unfortunately I forgot the link for the newspaper Vorarlberger Nachrichten...

vn.vol.at

Here I read today that Roman Sebrle is not in top form.

He thinks we will not be able to fight for the victory with Bryan Clay and possibly Clay could break his world record.

OK. almost every day a new posting until the next weekend...

If we had a quiz, here are some answers and questions...

1. Who will win? Bryan Clay!

2. Winners points? More than 8800!

3. 8000 results? Around 12!

4. Sum of top-8 scores? 67287 (more than in every event in 2006)!

5. Personal Bests? 6!

6. Will Tomas Dvorak achieve more than 8000 points? Unfortunately not!

7. ???

I think that Dmitri Karpov is the winner! He will take over 8700 points, Clay second, Sebrle third. Hope that Maurice Smith is surpiser, maybe over 8500 points!

Quite interesting!

I of course think that Karpov can do 8700 points again, but I don't know if he can force up that much within one year. It should be a close battle between Karpov and Sebrle.

After I've read about Clay's shape, I gave him a little more point than first.

How much point do you think Roman Sebrle can achieve nowadays (if he is health and in good shape)?

8650 or more?

Posted: May 25, 2007
Roman Šebrle 8500-8600 points

Bryan Clay 8600-8700 points

Dmitri Karpov over 8700 points

About Karpov - it seems that he have one problematic event - pole vault. But anyway his other events are very good. Will see how he will adjust this time.

What do you think about Karpov's JT ? I think he will need more than 60m to win...

Here are my predictions for the event winners:

100m: Clay

LJ: Sebrle

SP: Smith or Drozdov

HJ: Krauchanka

400m: Karpov (Minah ?)

110mH: Clay or Smith (or Karpov?)

DT: Clay or Sysoyev

PV: Niklaus or Leyckes

JT: Clay

1500mH: Krauchanka or Abele

Looking forward to tomorrow and hoping for good weather...

Very interesting 1st day...

Krauchanka ist strong.

Based on my predictions and the results of the 1st day it's gonna be very close for the 3rd place (5 athletes within less than 50 points...) and 13 8000ers

Clay 8870

Sebrle 8540

Krauchanka 8403

Karpov 8388

Niklaus 8388

Drozdov 8357

Smith 8355

Behrenbruch 8225

Sysoyev 8211

Müller 8125

Leyckes 8117

Barras 8047

Abele 8034

... Of course I missed Dvorak 8125

--> so 14 8000 results.

Final impressions from Götzis....

Day 2 started unlucky: Abele, Bourgignon and withdrew after day 1

Dvorak after a very good first day for him and clearly on the road to a 8100 score DNF in 110mH.

Then Bryan Clay's unlucky DT with two attempts over 50m outside the sector.

But we saw an new star, the unbelievable Krauchanka! I think he is the youngest Götzis winner ever (correct me if I'm wrong).

Do you think the improvement of 600 points is to huge?

Hopefully Janek will find time to put an detailed (colored ) bio.

Also Karlivans surprised the a huge new PR (I think)

Don't know why Karpov dnf the 1500m. He should have landed around 8400.

Some dnf's more than I hoped, but still a very good competition with ten 8000ers (Dvorak, Abele, Leyckes, Sysoyev and Karpov were further candidates) and 67108 for the top 8 (still more than in every competition in 2006). But we do not just count points.

Thank you very much!

I hope they start writing him Kravchenko now. Krauchanka is too confusing (at least in Western Europe) and "almost everyone" pronounces him wrong.

Last year the speaker in Götzis mentioned that his real name is Kravchenko, but he still switched between "crow-chan-ka" and "craf-chen-ko".

Krauchanka now corrected his name to Kravchenko (vn.vol.at).
