When the new U20 class was introduced, a different specification from that of the IAAF was in force in some countries and at some competitions. Initially, according to IAAF rules, the hurdle height for juniors was 107 cm, but in some countries, metre-high hurdles were still used. What’s more, a 6.25 kg shot was sometimes used instead of the standard 6 kg one. All in all, it’s quite confusing.
