After Bryan Clay has withdrawn from the Hypomeeting in Götzis this year, unfortunately Roman Sebrle has to pull out too! It is due to an injury he has contracted during a training camp in South Africa. For those of you who understand the German articles: http://www.leichtathletik.de/index.php/?NavID=1&Si... http://www.vn.vol.at/webvn/2008-04-30/Sport.php Nevertheless it is gonna be a great competition, the athletes ranked from 2nd to 9th plus Kravchenko will be there (hopefully no more injuries). |

A small correction: I wanted to say "ranked from 2nd to 9th at the WC 2007 in Osaka" |

does anyone have a list of competitors that will be competing at Gotzis? |

I think there isn't a final list of competitors so far. On the meeting homepage they write that the athletes will be listed one week before the meeting. Maybe earlier on IAAF. The following should be sure: M. Smith D. Karpov A. Drozdov A. Niklaus A. Sysoyev R. Barras Y. Garcia A. Abele A. Kravchenko A. Pogorelov N. Müller P. Behrenbruch J. Minah |

On Eugene Martineau's homepage you can see an advertisement of the Hypomeeting 2008. http://www.martineau.nl So maybe this does mean that he will compete (?) |

There will be a Canadian attending this year as well. We have only ever had a small handful of Canadian men represented there, so it is pretty exciting for us. His name is Massimo Bertocchi - look for him in the 400m (pb 47.47sec, 2008) and the PV (pb 5.00, 2008). His deca pb is 7963pts from April of this year. |

Does anybody know the reason why Kravchenko isn't on the entry list? |
OlaviKa user |
Posted: May 27, 2008
So now there are only 26 participants left as Andres Raja cannot enter due to training injury. (As posted by Janek in the Estonian language forum.) |

Kravchenko was my fav and I don't know very much about Smith's shape (can he do like he did in Osaka?). So my predictions are (conservative as always): Karpov 8501 Smith 8430 Niklaus 8405 Drozdov 8362 Sysoyev 8350 Pogorelov 8276 Müller 8267 Behrenbruch 8248 Abele 8239 Maybe a little bit more the next days ... --> close between 1st and 5th (ca. 150 pts) --> very close between 6th and 9th (ca. 40 pts) I calculated around 14 8000pointers, so if we expect that 2 will drop out, we should see about 12. Sum of top8: 66839 (less than last year and Osaka) for those of you who know Hans van Kuijen's book) |

Maybe I forgot Garcia, but as I do for Smith, I'm not sure that he will confirm the result of Osaka already in Götzis. In the internet you can review a local news magazin called "Vorarlberg heute" for one week. On saturday and sunday they should show a little bit from Götzis: try http://your.orf.at/vbgwebcam/vheute/ondemand.php or http://your.orf.at/bheute/player.php/?id=vbg choose Samstag, 31.05.2008 and Sonntag, 01.06.2008 |

Based on day 1 and my predictions the result at the end may be: Karpov 8479 Drozdov 8414 Pogorelov 8313 Smith 8300 Behrenbruch 8294 Sysoyev 8255 Abele 8223 Niklaus 8154 Suarez 8137 (I did not adjust my predictions for day 2) |

i do not understand what happened to karpovs javelin i think overall besides athens '04 this was one of his better decathlons besides his javelin. Is he injured or something b'c i know smith has elbow problems. |
