Bryan Clay claimed the USA Outdoor Track and Field championships in the decathlon with a combined score of 8506, the third best score posted this year in the world.

Along with Clay, Paul Terek (7976 points) and Phil McMullen (7795 points) will represent the United States at the IAAF World Championships in Athletics, to be held in Helsinki, Finland.
