During the winter season, the climate in most countries — at least in Europe — does not usually allow outdoor sports. This is when the indoor season also begins for combined-event athletes. Of course, not all disciplines can be held indoors; for example, discus and javelin throws would be impractical in such conditions. As a result, the number of events is reduced from ten to seven, as follows:
60 m - Long Jump - Shot Put - High Jump - 60 m hurdles - Pole Vault - 1000m
Every year there is either a World or a European Championships, mostly carried out in early March.
