No Olympics for Andre Niklaus (0)

Andre Niklaus

Andre Niklaus has failed in his final attempt to join the Germany squad for this summer's Olympic Games.

The German decathlete fell short of the prescribed qualifying mark of 8,000 points in Tallinn at the weekend, achieving only 7,831 after being given special dispensation to compete one week after the deadline passed in Ratingen.

Niklaus, recovering from injury, was unable to regain full fitness in Estonia, finishing a disappointing fourth and seeing his chances of competing in Athens disappear.
