The mains Ultra Multievents are the Icosathlon for men and the Tetradecathlon for women. Actually, women do the Icosathlon too.

Icosathlon – Ultra Multievents – Double Decathlon

Much like the Decathlon, the Icosathlon has traditionally been an event only open to men. For women, the option has been the 14-event Tetradecathlon — sometimes called the “double heptathlon” — giving them just 70% of what men are permitted to do.

In 2021, history was made when women were welcomed into the biennial Icosathlon World Championships for the very first time. It was a powerful moment that showed clearly: women are every bit as capable.

But in 2023, women were once again excluded from competing, a reminder that progress doesn’t always move in a straight line.

Women are not 70% of men. Women are strong enough, skilled enough, and determined enough to take on all 20 events of the Icosathlon. It’s time to move forward — and make space for change.
