During the World Championships Ultra Multievents in Lynchburg (USA) Joseph Detmer has broken the world record of double decathlon. The 27 year old set the new record with 14574 points, an improvement of 389 points over Kip Janvrin’s old world record.

Decastar is the traditionally the final European stop on the Challenge schedule. This time I hope for Pascal Behrenbruch. I follow his career since 2006 and it makes me cry that he is every year the number 4 in Germany or just injured. I hope for good competition in Talence.

I know 18 years old decathlete. The events that kill his score are the throws, the Javelin in particular. So, he would like any advice on what he should do to improve own strength. I hardly saw the gym (had done a bit of upper body, but no Olympic lifts) until i was 20-21 & had scored 8000+. As a junior, scoring 7700, i hadn't lifted at all (had only done some gymnastics for strength).

As you maybe know, since Kevin Mayer realised 52m at discus and 10.66sec on the sprint in Ratingen, he can really expect to beat WR in Berlin? Even more impressive was his attempt on heigth 5.60m at pole vault (Rouen in this summer). Also he achieved own shot put mark to the 16.51m in Paris!

All is right! On 9 November 2009 European Athletics Congress made the decision to grant the games for Helsinki. Practically the games are for sure but there is a little condition about the broadcasting of the games. There will not be racewalking and marathon competitions. Decathlon will be on the program!

Mayer finished with 7928 points, ahead of Russian Ilya Shkurenev, who dropped to second with 7830.

Kasyanov leads the competition but he always gets out to a good start and is weaker in later events. Behrenbruch has also had a disappointing 2010 so far; he looks to be on track to redeem the season late in the year. Through first day, he is only 59 points up on his Berlin 2009 score (8439, 6th place), so looks good for 8300+.
