Topic: indoor multi schedule - Europe
Anyone know of a calendar or ANY links, contact emails or anything for a European schedule for indoor multis, or even from individual countries? There are dozens of meets every year, hard to imagine they are only locally known or put on at the last minute. the results from last year show MANY meetings: http://www.decathlon2000.com/pdf/2008/rptList7M2008.pdf
Topic: 2009 Heptathlon Meetings in Switzerland and surrounding area
I am going to be in Switzerland in the winter of 2009, and would love to get in a good indoor heptathlon. Does anyone know who is the director for the meeting in Magglingen, or know of other contacts for heptathlons in Switzerland, or in the Austria, France and German areas around Switzerland? (I will most likely be in Zurich.)
Re: indoor multi schedule - Europe
thanks! greatly appreciated. Any other meets from anyone else?
Re: indoor multi schedule - Europe
Maybe there is an easier way - everyone that knows what meets they are going to this winter please post the location , date, and anything else here. (a meet director and contact info would be best.) Perhaps in the future I will compile a calendar and post a link to all open multi events worldwide.

Re: I'm new here and have couple questions
well, first, I am NOT an elite athlete, I am in the 4600 point range for the indoor heptathlon (I am weak in the disc and jav, so the indoor meets suit me. ) I don't have a competition list, but what I am doing is looking through the 2008 list: http: //www. decathlon2000. [...] pdf then finding the meet info on the internet and emailing the event directors. Someone on this forum may …
Re: I'm new here and have couple questions
These marks appear to be guesses, but if they are accurate, you definately have potential. There are a lot of statistics on these pages, so I am sure you have seen that these are great marks for early in a decathlete's career. But the marks aren't the most important thing ‐ it's your desire to do it and put in the work, and no one on this forum but you can answer that. I would …
Re: world youth champs
We can start contacting potential sponsors. People close to the decathlon can sign a letter that we can draft and circulate. We need to get contacts with marketing people at potential sponsors ‐ the higher up the better. Someone like a Nike or Reebok puts up a little cash, and the sport is alive again. These companies are savvy and have forward ‐thinking business sense …
Re: Veterans
in 1998, in Arles, Kruger scored 7052 (W) at 34 years 6 months. in 2000, in Stoke he scored 6975 at almost 37 years old in a 1 ‐hour dec. He has many other scores between 7993 and 6800 between the ages of 19 and 32 years old, but I did post the 8131 at 31. 6 years old, the 8098 at 31. 55 (Gotis), and the 8078 at 30. 55 (Gotis), which are the only 3 scores he has over 8000 …
Re: Veterans
... will be the 35 year olds that got over 7500. here's the new, updated link: http://www.yakoushkin.com/track/vets_over_8k.htm
Re: Veterans
... while longer, and these guys give me hope!) I posted the 35 over 8000 here: http://www.yakoushkin.com/track/vets_over_8k.htm hopefully there are more to come!
Re: Rest between decathlons
Barras completed another on 20.6.07, and got his season's-best 8298 (not windy) , for a total of three decathlons in 25 days over 8000 -- this has to be some sort of record.
Re: Rest between decathlons
I think it all depends on what you do between the decathlons. 6 ‐8 weeks sounds and feels perfect when you're training hard between them ‐ it gives you a light week after, then a moderate, hard, hard, moderate, light week before the next. But I think you could safely do two three weeks apart (with two weeks rest) if the training between them is minimal, particularly no …
Re: A Disturbing Trend...
Great suggestions – this would be wonderful for the sport. There would be so many athletes, including me, that would be thrilled to participate in this. You’d see a lot more men leaving college with something to look forward to. Sponsors invest when they know they will get a return. But the turnouts to track meets, particularly multi ‐events, is low. TV ratings for non …
Re: A Disturbing Trend...
So what can be done?
Re: A Disturbing Trend...
It's like this everywhere ‐ these are worldwide numbers. When I plotted US athletes at 6800 and 7500, the trend is downwards, but not as severe ‐ meaning the US is doing only a little better than the world. I'll dig a little more and see if there's a country that is not following this trend. Do you have the results for the UK over 5000 point decathlons? Does anyone have …
Re: Women's Decathlon
It's a shame the hep isn't being phased out and replaced by the dec ‐ there should be more equality in the multis. (Besides, the hep WR is completely out of reach. ) The NCAA resists switching because of a bunch of reasons (added liability, more work, etc. ) but I think a main reason is that coaches and administrators don't want to spend more time coaching women who will now have a …
