Valter Külvet was a highly gifted Estonian decathlete who competed for the Soviet Union during his main international career. He set Estonian senior decathlon records: 8332 points in 1987 and 8506 points in 1988.

I think someone ought to write a biography, even a short one, of Valter Kulvet. I know he started training at a very early age--earlier than most--and photos and his progression would be very interesting.

In 1988, Külvet surpassed his best decathlon with a score of 8506 points in Staiki, Belarus. This achievement placed him second in the world that season, just behind Christian Plaziat of France.
