O.K., wrong thread (Day1)

I asked what was wrong with Clay (missed live stream)?
Clay falls...

So how exactly are the rules?
Hardee (defending champion)
Eaton (A standard)
another A standard?
maximum one B standard?

After discus (Eaton 41.58 - 697) standings:

Eaton 6338
Harmon 5731
Moss 5721
Broadbent 5609

(may not have each score exact)

Can those after Eaton score 2500 in last 3 events do get to 8200?

It should be a wild 1500m run. We might see guys attempting untested paces.

Eaton 6338
Moss 5721
Harlan 5721
Broadbent 5609
Jellison 5534
Adcock 5534
(from flashresults.com)

2500 for the last three events is very much, I can't imagine.
46.37m DT is a PB for Harlan(?) I can't find data from 2009/2010 of him. No decahtlon since 2008?

My prediction is Moss 2nd, Harlan 3rd - according to the data I have:
Moss ~8100 (if he does well in JT)
Harlan ~7900 (weak 1500 in 2006 to 2008)

No idea about the other guys.

For the next 3 events :

Moss 7.900 (4.90 - 50.00 4.35.00)
Harlan 7.950 (5.00 - 62.00 - 5.00.00)

Not a month ago, jseven, but 2 weeks ago, at the NCAA.

All guys who competed at the NCAA (Morrison, Beach,...) are under their level, except Moss.

@Jseven1: Beach 5373, just cleared 4.45m (not out)
Harlan 4.95m (missed 5.05 in 1st, not out) - maybe on the road to 8000 (as I mentioned: don't know about his shape because of no decas in 2009/10)
Eaton 4.95 3rd attempt! 5.05 1st
(Hardee 4.85, PPP at 4.95)
Moss 4.55 (not out)

It's 20 after midnight now

@Daniel: that would mean only Hardee and Eaton in Daegu?
Is there a chance for Clay if nobody besides Eaton reaches the B standard?

Well, I think that only Eaton and Hardee should be both in the team, at this instant (USTAF rules are intraitable).

Nota : possibly a decathlon's world junior record for Kevin Lazas if he can run 4.33 in the 1500 meters !!

Just watched the 1500 of the juniors, Kevin Lazas started too quick (I think)
4.50.52 - 8016 points

Moss cleared 4.85

Eaton 8729 points. PB was 8457 from previous season, so massive addition this year! 272p! Who's gonna take the gold medal in Daegu in August? And in London 2012?

After 9 events:
Eaton 7945
Harlan 7431
Moss 7166

Eaton is likely to score ~8,750 (4:20 will give him 812 points). This is a big PB for Eaton but he cannot be happy with his performance given is weak results in the throws. If he cannot improve in the next two months I believe that Hardee will be the favourite come Deagu.

Harlan need ~4:58 in order to achieve the “B” standard (8000 points). I really don’t know much about Harlan but with tickets to Korea he should be able to do it. If Harlan does score 8000 points than Moss will need to pass him in order to qualify for Korea. The gap of 265 points means that he will need to score 836 points (~4:17). Note that because of the three days decathlon in the NCAA it is not clear whether Moss has the “B” standard.

Final result:
1. Eaton 8729
2. Harlan 8011
3. Moss 7878

So the US team is: Hardee, Eaton, Harlan.

Moss can go only if he score 8,200 points (the A standard) until the beginning of August. This is highly unlikely as I doubt if he will try a full decathlon this year. Since the US have an additional spot Clay or Arnold that already have the A standard can go. The big question is if one of them will be fit enough until the end of August. I think that Clay should skip the WCH and not risk aggravating his injury and risk his Olympic chances.
