It seems most high level multi event athletes score higher in running events (excluding the 1500) than they do in the throws. Is their a data base that ranks the events from 1 to 10 for high level athletes over a period of time? IP: 98.248.1... |

Every athlete has to work with the body they have, and that could change their potential best for each event. There are also different strategies for different levels of experience and competition. At the elite level... ...the tenth most accessible event to decathletes is... 10. 1500m ...then in order from least to most accessible is... 9. Shot Put 8. 400m 7. Discus 6. High Jump 5. 100m 4. Long Jump 3. Javelin 2. Pole Vault ...and the number one most accessible even to decathletes is... 1. 110H IP: 208.201.... |

Thanks for your list, John. I decided to test it out against Sebrle's WR, O'Brien's AR, and Eaton's PB's going from worst event to best. John's List. Sebrle. O'Brien. Eaton. I can't argue with your chart. Your chart is historical precedent, my post was speculation. For example I thought the PV is a lot like the LJ except it takes more upper body strength, which potentially makes it a better fit for a decathlete. But the long jump is so much easier to master than the pole vault while still being a body type match. IP: 72.80.16... |
