The Fair Decathlon Model (FDM) has reached its first external implementation.

Following the publication of the FDM article series on Decathlon 2000, Swiss athletics coach and developer Pascal Magyar (SUI) has integrated the model into his online Combined Events Calculator, allowing anyone to experiment with the proposed scoring system.

According to Pascal, the idea came directly from the FDM articles:

His Combined Events Calculator was originally developed to provide a more practical scoring tool than many existing calculators. Besides calculating points, it allows users to enter complete performances, compare results and analyse different scoring systems. Pascal uses the application both as a coach and as an athletics commentator.

The new FDM mode can be accessed directly here:

It is also available through the calculator's main page under the Labs section, which can be found via the footer.

This is an encouraging milestone for the Fair Decathlon Model. Less than two weeks after the publication of the first articles, the model is already available as an interactive tool that athletes, coaches and fans can use to compare performances under both the official World Athletics tables and the proposed FDM scoring system.
