Kevin Mayer won the men’s decathlon at the 2010 IAAF World Junior Championships in Moncton with 7928 points, becoming U20 world champion ahead of Ilya Shkurenyov and Marcus Nilsson.

Thomas van der Plaetsen won the men’s decathlon at the 2009 European Athletics U20 Championships in Novi Sad, scoring 7769 points for Belgium ahead of Petter Olson (7734) and Kai Kazmirek (7639).

Andrei Krauchanka’s 8390 was the Multistars meeting record. He broke the previous one, which was 8339 points set in 2000 by Jiří Ryba.

Hans van Alphen from the Netherlands won the decathlon in Götzis with 8519 points after a thrilling duel with Eelco Sintnicolaas, with a narrow margin of just 13 points
