Ashton Eaton stunned the field in Beijing, setting a new world record of 9045 points to win decathlon gold at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics.

Ashton Eaton successfully defended his Olympic Champion title from London 2012, scoring 8893 points, which tied the existing Olympic record.

There were stadium records in the decathlon: meeting winner Damian Warner equaled his hurdles best of 13.54 seconds on the new track, while Gaël Quérin from France added his name to the list of stadium record holders in the 1500m.

Kevin Mayer stood tall under championship pressure in London, securing decathlon gold at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics with a winning total of 8768 points.
