A new Decathlon High Jump standard (0)

Derek Drouin won the gold medal in the high jump at the Olympic Games in Rio, clearing 2.38. We were waiting for him to do a decathlon again. Everyone knew he could break the world record but the question was, when is he going to participate again  in a ten-eventer. In 2013 he already broke the indoor record in the high jump for the heptathlon doing 5817 points and jumping 2m30. Although they are world records in combination with a multi-event,  those are not called world records but world bests.

Now, early in the season he completed his second decathlon ever at the Sam Adams Combined Events Invitational Decathlon at Westmont College on Friday April 7. Drouin cleared 2m28 and scored 7150 points smashing his previous personal best of 6592 Points from 2010.

Drouin aims to compete for Canada in the decathlon at the Commonwealth Games Gold Coast 2018.
