Torino, Italy — Estonian athlete Mikk Pahapill scored 6362 points to win the heptathlon gold medal at the European Athletics Indoor Championships. His total placed him ninth on the all-time world list and left him just 12 points short of Erki Nool’s Estonian national record. Nool is the only other Estonian to have won European Indoor gold, taking the title in 1996.

The silver medal went to Ukraine’s Olexiy Kasyanov with 6205 points, while bronze went to Czech athlete Roman Šebrle with 6142 points.
