World champion 1983: Francis ("Daley") Thompson, 8666 points But according to the points calculator on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decathlon and on this site his results give 10,60+07/7,88+16/15,35/2,03/48,12/14,37+21/44,46/5,10/65,24/4:29,72 952 /1030 /811 /831/903 /927 /756 /941 /817 /746 = 8714 points If subtracting (7+16+21=) 44 points (some sort of correction?) we get 8670 points, What kind of points calculator did they use back in 1983 ? before the table of the IAAF 1985 there was the belgrader table of 1964. This changed above all the too strong progression of the 1950-th table in the technical disciplines. Then the table of 1985 introduced a progression in the point calculation for all disciplines. Indeed, the table 1985 is also faulty. I recommend you to the history of multi-event tables the following website: http://www.leichtathletikimwandelmitnbl-site.de under II/B.2 IP: 95.119.2... |
