WC is over, EC is coming...

I think about travelling to the EC next year (for London didn't get tickets and too expensive in my opinion, Götzis is of course again on the list).

What do you think about the quality/the startlist at the EC between Götzis and London?

Will the EC only a "B-competition" or will the best European decathletes participate? Maybe some decathletes, who visit this site regularly, can tell me something about their plans for 2012?

All is right!

On 9 November 2009 European Athletics Congress made the decision to grant the games for Helsinki. Practically the games are for sure but there is a little condition about the broadcasting of the games.

There will not be racewalking and marathon competitions.

Decathlon will be on the program!

Thank you, European Athletics Congress for cancelling racewalk. It was a such a shame that they broadcasted racewalk instead of the parallel happening decathlon in Deagu on a few occasions.

To Christoph.

Still no 'standard A' pour the french guys (and no french decathlete at the London OG).

The last chance for Mayer (and Geffrouais perhaps) will be Helsinki.

I see the same medalists as Christoph. But... many young (and the "old man" Sebrle ) decathletes around 8050 points at the moment and surprises will be possible, if some of them can make the next step...

Andres Raja skips the competition because afraid get more larger injury. Safe for olympics...

I didn't think Andres Raja had an 'A' standard for London. And doesn't Mick Pahapill have one, meaning he would be the sole representative from Estonia? Or is he not competing (I haven't seen any results for him in 2012)?

To TimR:
Mikk Pahapill had 'A' standard but if he will not compete in London (there is many reasons) then Andres Raja will go...

Like said nathali, a young decathlete can come from 8050 to 8300 for a potential podium.
So in preview , you can watch this nice video of kevin mayer who makes better scores each time he makes a decathlon, and last week he cleared 5.20m at pole vault.
This video is the WLJ 8126pts in tallin 2011.
Last 6 minutes and you can see each event.

Thanks Janek. I didn't realize there were questions concerning Pahapill (you've whet my appetite to know more, with your 'many reasons').
