Hello everybody,
maybe I'm a little bit early with this topic, but I'd like to inform you about the new homepage of the Hypomeeting http://www.meeting-goetzis.at/home.htm
Meeting clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch/?v=tI6CdsQZ8PQ

Unfortunately I couldn't find results of the last years (on the old one we could see the complete results and the single events results).

Who may compete at Götzis?
A couple of weeks ago I've read on the meeting homepage that Ashton Eaton has confirmed.
In one of the most recent issues of Track and Field News I've read that Trey Hardee plans to open the season at Götzis.
Andre Niklaus doesn't know, if he will start already in Götzis (?)
Michael Schrader will do his first decathlon only in Ratingen.
Arthur Abele plans to start in Götzis (?)

Which athletes would you like to see in Götzis?

and of course a strong field like last year

As Laurien Hoos (Netherlands) has announchd not to go to Gotzis I am now hoping that Yvonne van Langen will be there in Gotzis.

Also I became a fan of the athletes from Estonia :
* Kaie Kand
* Grete Sadeiko
* Grit Sadeiko

ps1: I've heard Jessica Ennis is returning so... looking forward !
ps2: Will we ever see Carolina Kluft back ?

I’d like to see the Cubans (Suarez, Garcia and Diaz) but - probably it was on the IAAF-website - I read that they will compete in Kladno on 15. and 16. of June. Just two weeks after Götzis.
If this should be correct, I guess it is impossible for them to start in Götzis.
The same for Kasyanov.
What a pity: Kladno versus Götzis.
Bad for athletics.

According to the article on IAAF/WCE http://www.iaaf.org/WCE11/news/newsid=59867.html
Barras, El Fassi, Kravchenko, Maurice Smith, Kasyanov, Suarez, Garcia and Diaz will be in Kladno...

Two and a half weeks is a short time between two decathlons...
Some do more decathlons than other, so we might see some of them in Götzis too (Barras?, Kravchenko?), but I think the Cubans will be allowed only to compete in one of them.

Even if there will some be missing, it will always be the highest ranking meet...
Looking forward to see Eaton (hope he will stay on the list).

Some other interesting guys around 8000:
Eduard Mihan (twice 7999 last year)
Mihail Dudas
Larbi Bouraada
Alexis Chivas (whom I mentioned already)
The Belgians
Maybe Distelberger can surprise again?

Did anyone hear about these guys:

Willem Coertzen (started already in Durban this year, pulled out of Desenzano)?
Nicklas Wiberg?
Massimo Bertocchi?
Aleksei Sysoyev?

Germany will be sending a strong decathlon team to Götzis this year:
Pascal Behrenbruch / 8.439

Matthias Prey / 7.797

Not in Götzis (what I've read):

Romain Barras

Any news about Wiberg? And the Russians?

Jolanda Keizer (NED) will not compete in Gotzis. She's got a small pain in her ankle. She now will be in Kladno a few weeks later.

I'll be attending the meet in Gotzis this year. Any tips on how to make the most of the experience? Places to eat/stay etc? Any advice would be welcome. Thanks.

@Tim: places to eat/stay during the meeting? This year I have a ticket for the stands for the first time, but I'll try to watch the events where they take place. Yue may take a seat with you ...
Inside the stadium, behind the the grandstand you may get something to eat.
To stay the night? Don't know since I don't need to stay in Götzis ...

Unfortunately no Russian decathletes :-(
Missing Drozdov, Sysoyev, Pogorelov, Krauchanka, Smith, Bouraada, El Fassi, Karpov, Mihan, Sarcevic ...

But it will still be an interesting competition
